The Bangladesh Cricket Board provides financial help to Dhaka Premier League cricketers who are not part of the national contracts or payroll system. BCB President Nazmul Hassan has confirmed that cricketers playing in the Cricket League 2019-20 Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division will be provided a one-time payment of BDT 30,000.00 from the Board to cover their expenses.
With the order of the Ministry of Youth & Sports and the government’s intervention to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak 2019- Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League was suspended on March 19 after one round of matches played. Since there is no cricket, significant parts of skilled cricketers from Bangladesh worried they might lose their whole income if the Dhaka Premier League did not start for the rest of the season. The participants are getting compensated 1/12th of their gross profits since the team has just played one season.
Nazmul said that “With the unknown closure period, cricketers who are not part of the BCB contracts would suffer financial hardship as their respective clubs may just give the partial reward. For that community of players, this help is”.
The board has not released the list of first-class cricketers, who will be paying a monthly salary from BDT 20,000 and 30,000 but the list has already been concluded, it is believed.
